Mixed Media Collage by Artist GA Gardner

Zora Neale Hurston was a southern writer and poet who became known for her association with the Harlem Renaissance. She approached live with style. Like most artists, she was often without, but she stayed true to her craft. It is that commitment to the craft and a life well-lived, that artist GA Gardner wanted to show when creating the original mural project in her honor at a famous DC spot in 2010. Today this mural lives on and had been used to spread the knowledge of Zora's contributions to the arts. The merchandise such as our art printed pillows brings Zora's history to your living room or outdoor space.

Gartsy has created some products that feature Zora Neale Hurston, such as the  Zora Neale Hurston premium pillow with a shape-retaining insert. It'll make any room luxurious and provide the perfect excuse for a quick power nap in style. This pillow can be used indoor or outdoor. It's Gartsy's little way to incorporate the memories of this renowned artist into homes. We have also created a stylish jacket that makes it to adorn yourself with her rich history.

Zora Neale Hurston was a world-renowned writer and anthropologist. Hurston's famous novels, short stories, and plays often depicted African American life in the South. Her work in anthropology examined black folklore. Hurston was born in Notasulga, Alabama on January 15, 1891 and died on January 28, 1960.

Textstraction is the name given to the style of art that GA Gardner used to create the artwork of Zora. In this technique, he uses text to form the foundation of an abstract art background, in this case, text about the poet's life.
